Transitioning From Mobilize To The Underground App – FAQ
As of May 31st, GirlTREK will no longer use the Mobilize platform. This means you can no longer schedule walks or access community features on Mobilize after that date.
In its place, we will launch a new digital tool created specifically for GirlTREK to better serve and connect our growing community. The new tool will officially launch in June.
Q1: What’s happening to Mobilize?
GirlTREK’s use of Mobilize will end on May 31st, and GirlTREK will provide an exciting new resource! Starting in June, all walk scheduling and organizing will happen in The Underground: Powered by GirlTREK—our new app, built just for you. There will be a short transition period between platforms (estimated transition period is June 1–18), so we encourage you to start preparing now to make the switch smooth.
Q2: How do I transition from Mobilize to the app?
Start now by:
- Create a list of your contacts currently in Mobilize. Watch this brief video to learn how to download your contact lists.
- Email guests registered for events after May 31st to inform them about the changes and provide details on how to learn more about your event. Watch this short video for information on how to reach out and tips on what to share.

- Invite your crew to join you there
- Start creating new walks and events on the app
- Share your personal app link with your community
Q3: Will my Mobilize walk/event history transfer to the new app?
No, your past Mobilize events won’t automatically transfer. But you can create new ones in the app and start fresh with your walking stats and event history.
Q4: Can I still connect with my crew?
Absolutely! You can rebuild your crew right in the new app. Create private or public crew spaces, invite your people, and pick up where you left off with even more resources and connection.
Q5: What if I hosted public events on Mobilize?
You can still host public events in the app! Whether a neighborhood walk or a private walk with friends, you control the vibe and can make it public or invite-only.
Q6: Will I still get Mobilize email or text reminders after May 31st?
No. Mobilize notifications will end on May 31st. To stay in the loop, enable notifications in The Underground app once it’s available.
Q7: Can I export my data or contacts from Mobilize before it shuts down?
Mobilize does not allow the export of complete data sets outside contact lists, but we recommend that you jot down important events and a walk history you want to keep before May 31st.
Q8: What will happen to the crews and groups I joined on Mobilize?
They won’t automatically transfer. You’ll need to recreate those groups in the new app and invite your members to join. It’s a great time to reconnect and reenergize your crew!
Q9: Will there be a grace period after May 31st to access Mobilize?
No. Once it shuts down, it’s gone for good. That’s why it’s important to start transitioning now, while you can still reference your events and contacts.
Q10: Why is GirlTREK moving away from Mobilize?
We heard your feedback. Mobilize helped us grow, but it was time for a fresh start. The Underground is a one-stop, custom-built experience created just for this movement. It's more intuitive, more powerful, and designed with Black women in mind.
Q11: What happens between June 1st and June 18th?
During the transition, walk scheduling will briefly pause. During this window, you won’t be able to use Mobilize or the new app.
Q12: Can I use Facebook Events to organize walks during the gap?
Yes! If you need to stay connected during the pause, you can use Facebook Events or any other method that works for your crew. Just be sure to download The Underground app when it launches to access the new resource.
